I have a debate going on here at my office. Someone told me I needed a scale at my house (I don't currently own one) to keep myself in check with this whole weight loss regime. His arguments made total sense and I liked the thought of it.
Shortly thereafter this first conversation, another person in my office said I should ABSOLUTELY NOT (said very emphatically) have a scale at my house. That weighing myself only once a week at the doctor's office will be enough. Reasoning is weight fluctuates, especially a woman's weight, and weighing yourself on a daily/semi-daily/hourly basis will only be discouraging.
What are your thoughts on this? I'm genuinely wondering!

Buy a good digital scale. I weigh myself all the time. More than most but I think it helps me keep it under control better. I would hate to wait a week to find out how I did. That's just me though.
Some randomness - I have always heard that you should not weight yourself too often. I think once a week is just fine. I think if your clothes are getting loose and you feel good, you are doing good. You might be gaining more muscle and gain some weight or be even?
I am currently on a strict diet due to an autoimmune medical situation. I am told to weigh myself everyday (and graph it!) The key is to do it at the same time everyday - first thing in the morning, after taking care of all of nature's needs and before eating or drinking anything. We use a digital scale (from WalMart) good to one decimal point.
I hate to have my day determined by a number on a scale. I tend to be mad and somewhat "throw in the towel" at a bad number, I say once a week!!!
I do it once a day at the same time each day to give me a basic idea of where I am at. BUT I only "record" or worry or count or whatever every Monday. Yes, it does fluctuate over the week - which is why I only count it once a week. Knowing it each day just helps me to gage where I am at.
It's not good to weigh daily. I have a scale but it's different every time I get on. I could get on, get off then get back on again and it would say something different, ususally by a pound or 2. That's the way to do it. Weigh every couple of days but have one scale you know is right, like the doctor's, and go off that.
I tend to like to know where I am on my weight, so I weigh myself every morning. Even if I am a pound heavier the next day, it helps me watch what I eat that day. But I agree, a digital scale is so much better. I'm loving your blog!!! Thanks for keeping us updated!

I tend to be incredibly OCD with the scale there. Although I like to know my weight, I actually don't really like to know it. I totally fluctuate, and I find that if there is a scale there I weight all the time. It really is better to weight once a week, same time/conditions. Just my 2 cents! :)
I guess it's a personal preference. I prefer to weigh myself every day to keep myself in check. However, I ONLY weigh myself once a day, at exactly the same time.... first thing after I get out of bed in the morning and use the toilet, and in undergarments only. :) That's the only way it's accurate and won't fluctuate.
